Mark Adams, MD, FACS, is a board-certified vascular surgeon with more than 30 years of diverse healthcare experience in healthcare systems across the country. He joined El Camino Health in 2018 as chief medical officer, overseeing all clinical care.

Dr. Adams leads El Camino Health's Safety First/Mission Zero initiative as the healthcare system continues to make progress toward becoming a high reliability organization. The enterprise-wide initiative aims to eliminate preventable harm to patients, visitors and staff.

Prior to joining El Camino Health, Dr. Adams was the interim chief clinical officer at SSM Health in St. Louis, Missouri, chief medical officer at PeaceHealth in Vancouver, Washington, and chief medical officer at Franciscan Health System in Tacoma, Washington.

Dr. Adams previously served as the president of the Washington State Medical Association and served as the first practicing physician on the American Hospital Association Board of Trustees.

Dr. Adams earned his bachelor's and medical degrees at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in general surgery and fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Washington.
