Mountain View, CA - August 27, 2009 - 300-bed, acute-care facility passes final building inspections; activation leaders prepping for upcoming opening events
Yesterday, after its final building inspection, El Camino Hospital's new technologically advanced hospital building, which is also among the few hospitals in the state with advanced seismic safety features, was granted 'Beneficial Occupancy' from the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD). This gives the hospital permission to staff and stock the building until the building is completed and a final 'Certificate of Occupancy' is issued.
With installations for OR, monitoring, radiology and other equipment now complete, activation team leaders are busily preparing for next month's employee, physician and Foundation open house events. Members of the media are invited to a special tour led by the hospital's activation leaders, who have been working around the clock to get the facility completed on time and within budget.
WHAT: An inside look at El Camino Hospital’s new 300-bed, 'smart' hospital which has involved more than six years of planning and implementation and will include new technologies ranging from:
- biometric patient identification (palm-scanning)
- digital signage and digital art
- medical-grade bedside computers that allows real-time medical record processing
- 'smart' beds and electronic ceiling lifts
- new radiology equipment
- faster, more reliable elevators with advanced earthquake safety and 'code blue' capabilities
In addition, 85 percent of rooms will be private rooms and each floor has a family services lounge where they can shower, use the Internet or wash a load of laundry. Patient rooms are equipped with high-definition flat-panel televisions that will have interactive patient education modules.
