Care Team
Our highly trained diagnostic services team is committed to your comfort, safety and care.
At El Camino Hospital, our imaging services professionals work together to coordinate your testing and assure you and your doctor receive accurate imaging results quickly. We always consider your individual needs during your procedure and take every step to ensure your comfort and safety. El Camino Health’s imaging care team includes:
- Medical physicists – Experts with a master’s or doctorate degree (PhD) and additional training in clinical physics. These professionals work with others in the imaging team to plan treatment and ensure the safe and accurate measurement of radiation doses. They also monitor the imaging equipment to make sure it functions correctly.
- Radiologists – Doctors who specialize in the field of radiology. Radiologists are responsible for interpreting results of examinations, performing interventional radiology procedures or therapeutic procedures, and ensuring the overall quality performance of the entire imaging team.
- Radiology technologists – Clinicians who administer a variety of imaging exams. These professionals may specialize in a particular area, such as CT scans or MRIs.
- Registered nurses – Highly trained medical professionals who sometimes specialize in specific areas of care. In imaging, nurses often assist with complex imaging procedures, such as those that use a contrast medium, or in which the patient is sedated or has intravenous (IV) medications.
