El Camino Health Announces Carlos Bohorquez as New Chief Financial Officer

The 20-year-plus veteran of health care financial management hails from Palomar Health in San Diego, CA

Mountain View, CA – January 15, 2021 – El Camino Health recently announced a change to its executive leadership team, appointing senior health care executive Carlos Bohorquez as its new chief financial officer.

“Carlos has quickly become an indispensable asset to our team,” said Dan Woods, chief executive officer of El Camino Health. “His depth of experience in health care financial operations is especially important during these turbulent pandemic times.”

In his new role, Bohorquez will be responsible for leading and overseeing financial management and reporting, accounting/finance, decision support, revenue cycle, managed care contracting, health information management (HIM), supply chain and more.

“I am thrilled to be part of the leadership team of a terrific organization like El Camino Health as it continues to grow its reach as a leading health system in the region,” said Bohorquez. “El Camino Health has unique strengths and a long track record of delivering safe, quality and innovative care, and I look forward to helping champion those values to meet our organizational goals and deliver on our mission while preserving the financial strength of our organization.”

Bohorquez brings more than 20 years of health care finance and managed care contracting experience to his new role. Most recently, he served as chief financial officer and vice president of financial operations at Palomar Health in San Diego — the largest health care district in California — which operates three hospitals and offers home health care, surgery, skilled nursing, ambulatory care, behavioral health services and more.

Prior to Palomar Health, Bohorquez worked for a range of health care business advisory firms, including GE Healthcare, Kaufman Hall and Associates and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, LLP, where he led engagements with hospitals and health systems focusing on financial operations, long-term financial and capital planning, strategy and managed care.

Bohorquez earned a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles, and holds a master’s in health administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Southern California. He has also participated in the Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School, where he studied value-based and population health programs.
