Our Community, Our Priority
During fiscal year 2023, we remained committed to partnering with organizations that demonstrate an ability to improve our community's health. Despite the prosperity of our region, there still are many unmet needs. Our grant partners help us continue to support community members when they experience vulnerability and health challenges. Our investments this past year focused on addressing five community health needs. We helped improve health outcomes by increasing access to care, including to behavioral health services, promoting healthy lifestyles, supporting individuals with chronic health conditions, and reducing financial barriers to vital resources like food and housing. Although the harshest parts of the pandemic are behind us, the effects linger – from delayed healthcare procedures to worsened social isolation and depression. There is an increased need for primary and specialty care, and mental health services. Diabetes and obesity rates, along with rates of other preventable chronic conditions, remain a challenge. With higher costs of living, the most basic needs are difficult for many to afford. By collaborating directly with community-based leaders, individuals and organizations, we work to ensure that Santa Clara County residents have what they need to live well. Under our governing leadership, El Camino Healthcare District and El Camino Health invested $10.7 million in 139 grants and sponsorships for FY 2023. |
