Community Benefit support helps partner Healthier Kids Foundation provide dental and hearing screenings at four area schools.
Making sure children get all the healthcare they need can be challenging — especially when a pandemic and related issues have been the focus in recent years. Healthier Kids Foundation, a Community Benefit partner, is meeting that challenge in the Bay Area through its work with community-based organizations and schools — identifying students with unmet vision, dental, hearing, and mental health needs through screenings and linking low-income families with needed care and resources.
Community Benefit support helps Healthier Kids Foundation provide dental and hearing screenings through its DentalFirst and HearingFirst programs. Children at three schools in San Jose and one in Campbell receive screenings. Results are delivered back to the schools and sent home to parents. Healthier Kids Foundation reports on results, and case managers help families find a dentist, pediatrician or audiologist for appropriate treatment if needed.
Healthier Kids Foundation is a valuable partner in improving care and access to health services, identified as a critical need in our 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment.
