El Camino Health Sponsors MLK Luncheon

El Camino Health was a sponsor of the MLK Luncheon in January, presented by the African American Community Service Agency, a Community Benefit partner.

The African American Community Service Agency (AACSA) held its 45th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Luncheon on January 20, and El Camino Health was a sponsor. The luncheon has been a tradition since 1980, uniting community and trade organizations, corporations, philanthropists and students to celebrate King’s life and legacy — and look to the future.

NBC Bay Area anchor Marcus Washington emceed the event, and the keynote speaker was Rev. Shavon Arline-Bradley, president and chief executive officer for the National Council of Negro Women. She is also the founding principal and CEO of R.E.A.C.H. Beyond Solutions, a public health, advocacy and executive leadership firm. Attendees enjoyed performances from area artists and had a chance to connect with community leaders and organizations serving the area’s African American community.

A Community Benefit partner, the African American Community Service Agency seeks to reverse the pervasive impacts of racism by providing educational, cultural, and social and recreational programs and services to ethnically diverse low-income children, families and seniors. In 2018, AACSA became a FIRST 5 Family Resource Center, serving as a neighborhood hub that will ensure children are kindergarten-ready, with strong family relationships and connections to schools and community.
