Hundreds Turn Out for Los Gatos Great Race

45th Annual Event Supports Scholarships for Local Students

Once again, El Camino Health was part of a long-held tradition as a sponsor for the 45th annual Great Race hosted by the Rotary Club of Los Gatos on April 29. Nearly 600 runners participated, along with about 80 participants in the one-mile Kids Fun Run.

Registration fees from the event support scholarships for area students. The Rotary Club of Los Gatos grants $2,000 college scholarships to up to 20 students each year.

"The race is a US Track and Field-sanctioned race, so many fast runners from Bay Area running clubs take part," Lisa Cheskin, Los Gatos Rotary race committee member, said. "Last year's addition of the one-mile Kids' Fun Run has been successful, bringing out many participants from kindergarten through 8th grade. For the past two years, 4-mile world records were broken by local youth!"

The race also demonstrates community involvement by local businesses, with 17 sponsors supporting the event this year. El Camino Health was this year's largest event sponsor.
