El Camino Health recognized as one of the Best Hospitals for Maternity Care by U.S. News & World Report

Mountain View, CA – El Camino Health's Mountain View hospital has been named one of the Best Hospitals for Maternity Care by U.S. News & World Report. El Camino Health earned a High Performing designation in recognition of maternity care as measured by several factors including newborn complication rates and early elective delivery rates. El Camino Health is one of only two South Bay hospitals to earn this prestigious award which is the highest recognition a hospital can earn for U.S. News' Best Hospitals for Maternity Care.

"We are committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care, and a personalized experience for expectant mothers and their families," said Dan Woods, chief executive officer at El Camino Health. "El Camino Health delivers nearly 5,000 babies annually, and this distinction reflects the expertise of our doctors, caregivers, and staff who are dedicated to meeting the needs of patients. We're extremely honored that U.S. News & World Report has recognized our hospital for outstanding maternity care."

U.S. News & World Report is the global authority in hospital rankings and consumer advice. This annual evaluation is designed to assist expectant parents in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity care that best meets their family needs.

El Camino Health continues its commitment to maternal health with a $149 million investment and three-phase expansion project on the Mountain View campus. Recently, the maternity and NICU units all moved into a renovated space (Center for Women and Newborns), which offers an environment of care where mothers and babies can flourish, and expanded capacity to accommodate more families, including 26 new maternity rooms (52 private rooms when complete) and a new neonatal intensive care unit with private NICU rooms with parent spaces. El Camino Health delivered 4,761 babies in 2023 making it one of the top hospitals for births in the state last year.

U.S. News evaluated hospitals nationwide that submitted survey data and provide labor and delivery services. Alongside the quality assessment are factors many new parents look for when choosing where to have a baby. By evaluating hospitals using core maternity and perinatal care data, including data primarily self-reported by hospitals, and by publishing this information publicly on each hospital’s usnews.com page, the 2024 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care rankings and ratings aims to enhance the transparency of the maternity services provided for uncomplicated pregnancies.
