February 9, 2017 – El Camino Hospital announced today it has reached an agreement with Service Employees International Union-United Health Workers, West (SEIU-UHW) for a two-year extension of the current Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). SEIU-UHW represents 1,250 individuals working at El Camino Hospital. The extension of the MOU expires on June 30, 2019.
The extended contract provides for a 3% wage increase per year for the next two years and an updated extended sick leave (ESL) buyout option. The agreement also allowed for the opportunity to adjust several position categories to be in alignment with the marketplace. These adjustments will be implemented within the next 30 days.
“This contract extension demonstrates the hospital’s commitment and working relationship with the union to reach an agreement that is in the best interest of our employees,” said Kathryn Fisk, chief human resources officer of El Camino Hospital.
