Mountain View, CA - March 15, 2012 - El Camino Hospital today announced that it has appointed Michael R. King, FHFMA, as the hospital's new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. King will replace interim CFO, Ned Borgstrom, starting in May.
"Michael brings with him a proven track record of thoughtful fiscal management that has resulted in more favorable cash flow for both proprietary and non-profit healthcare facilities, and we feel he'll be a real asset to our organization," said Tomi Ryba, president and CEO of El Camino Hospital. "Ned was instrumental in helping to recruit our new CFO, and I want to thank him for his exceptional guidance during a significant period of transition for the hospital."
Mr. King previously served as the senior vice president and CFO of Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisburg, Va., where he worked closely with the medical staff on building loyalty and on performance improvement metrics. Mr. King also led a number of bond refinancings in connection with Rockingham's $300 million construction project, increased the hospital's Medicare reimbursement, and designed and implemented a charity program that encouraged the purchase of health insurance, yet was responsive to the needs of those with limited means. Additional roles Mr. King has held include CFO of Jupiter Medical Center, in Jupiter, Fla., and varying positions of increasing responsibility at both Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, Fla., and Humana, Inc., in Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama. Mr. King worked as a paramedic during college, received his M.B.A. from the University of Louisville. He is a Healthcare Financial Management Association fellow.
