Mountain View, Calif. – February 15, 2018 - El Camino Hospital announced the appointment of Deborah Muro to the position of chief information officer. She joined the hospital as associate chief information officer in 2014.
The chief information officer is the executive leader responsible for information technology strategy and execution for El Camino Hospital. Ms. Muro will lead the information technology team and provide strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for all aspects of information systems and technology in support of the organization’s goals. She will be tasked with extending the Epic system to community physicians, developing partnerships with high-tech companies and implementing transformational IT solutions throughout the El Camino organization. She will also be responsible for information security and data analytics.

With more than 25 years of combined nursing, clinical, healthcare and technology experience, Ms. Muro has held various healthcare IT management positions focused on the delivery of technology solutions and best practices. Prior to joining El Camino Hospital, she served in executive level positions for Unity Point Health and Allina Health System and led large enterprise-wide technology implementations involving multiple acute care hospitals, outpatient/ambulatory clinics, home care post-acute facilities and critical access rural hospitals. Ms. Muro was honored as a "Woman in Innovation" 2012 finalist by the Iowa Technology Association and one of the Becker's Healthcare "100 Community CIO’s to Know" in 2017. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Baylor University and her master's in human relations and business from Amber University.
"I initially joined El Camino Hospital to lead the installation and implementation of iCare, the hospital's EPIC electronic health record system," says Ms. Muro. "After a successful enterprise activation, I have had the pleasure of contributing to and overseeing the organization's technology strategy.
