Mountain View, CA - October 14, 2011 - Using the popularity and power of social media to help celebrate its 50th anniversary, today El Camino Hospital launches a new interactive feature on its Facebook page called "50 Patients, 50 Stories," where community members can share stories of their experiences at the hospital.
"There are many everyday successes and touching moments that happen at El Camino Hospital," says Chris Ernst, senior director of marketing and corporate communication. "This new feature on Facebook is a way for patients to testify to these experiences in their own words. What social media is showing us is that shared experiences are a powerful way to keep the hospital and its community connected."
El Camino Hospital first opened on September 1, 1961, but has scheduled the community celebration to commemorate the anniversary this Saturday, October 15. The date was chosen to give the community a chance to meet and greet new president and CEO Tomi Ryba, who joined the hospital on October 5. Ms. Ryba, along with El Camino Hospital Board chairman John Zoglin will give a brief presentation at the event. The program will be moderated by Nurse Barb (Barbara Dehn) whose Daily Dose segments appear regularly on KPIX Channel 5. The community will also get a chance to visit "Innovation Stations" which showcase the hospital's many leading edge programs and innovative services. Also on tap are CPR/emergency demonstrations, blood pressure screenings, as well as fingerprinting and other activities for the kids.
Also launching today on the website is the hospital's 50th anniversary video, which pays tribute to El Camino Hospital's history and its spirit of innovation. The three "Faces of El Camino Hospital" videos, already posted on the website, feature physicians, volunteers and employees sharing their thoughts about El Camino Hospital. Also recently launched is an online interactive history timeline highlighting the hospital's accomplishments from 1961 to the present.
