Mountain View, CA - September 4, 2012 - El Camino Hospital today announced that Mick Zdeblick is starting as the hospital’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Among his key responsibilities will be to ensure El Camino Hospital has the processes and systems in place to implement its three-year strategic plan, focused on the triple aim of improving individual experience, improving quality and reducing costs across the enterprise.
“Throughout his career, Mick has demonstrated an ability to effectively drive change in complex health care organizations," said Tomi Ryba, president and CEO of El Camino Hospital. "His experience and deep knowledge of operational best-practices will be critical to El Camino Hospital as we enter the next phase of our evolution in creating a continuum of integrated, patient-centric care through our clinical programs, further optimizing the health of Silicon Valley residents."
Mr. Zdeblick brings more than 25 years of management and operational experience to El Camino Hospital, having spent the majority of his career at APM Inc. (acquired by CSC in 2001).
During his tenure at APM, he specialized in provider-based consulting, working with organizations such as Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins and Long Beach Memorial to lead a number of process improvement projects, including the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (supply chain, human resources, grant management, and finance), operational restructuring and process redesign.
He comes to El Camino Hospital most recently from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Ill., where he was leading a Campus Transformation inclusive of designing the core processes of a new 800,000 square foot hospital.
He also served as vice president of Operations, and in that capacity, developed a new clinical care model for the surgical suite and interventional areas and also redesigned the hospital’s supply chain to realize greater efficiencies.
