El Camino Health Honored as one of America's Best Maternity Hospitals

Mountain View, CA – For the third consecutive year, El Camino Health has been named a five ribbon hospital, receiving top honors on Newsweek's list of America's Best Maternity Hospitals 2024. El Camino Health is one of only three South Bay hospitals to receive this national recognition and is currently the only healthcare system in the South Bay with a dedicated Center for Women and Newborns.

"At El Camino Health, our top priority has always been delivering the highest-quality care to our patients and the communities we serve, so we are honored to be recognized once again by Newsweek as one of America's Best Maternity Hospitals," said Mark Adams, MD, chief medical officer at El Camino Health. "We have an exceptional team of compassionate caregivers, and this distinction reflects our commitment to patient safety and creating the very best experience for our expectant mothers and their families."

High-quality maternity care, provided from pregnancy through birth and postpartum is key to the long-term health of newborns and women who give birth. Given that maternity care is a major component of healthcare, Newsweek and Statista, the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider, have partnered for the third time to identify America's Best Maternity Hospitals in 2024. The list recognizes the 404 leading maternity hospitals in the U.S.

The ranking is based on three pillars:

  1. Nationwide Online Survey: Healthcare professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about maternity processes e.g., neonatal and perinatal doctors, nurses, and midwives were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals in the U.S.
  2. Patient Experience Survey: Survey of the overall patient experience in the hospital.
  3. Hospital Quality Metrics: Indicators relevant to maternity care were considered.

El Camino Health delivered more than 4,800 babies in 2023 and is currently renovating and expanding the Orchard Pavilion Center for Women and Newborns on the Mountain View campus in a $149 million project to meet a growing need in our community and create a welcoming environment that promotes healing and wellness.
