September 8, 2016 - El Camino Hospital has learned that Professional Resource for Nurses (PRN), the union representing non-management Registered Nurses, plans to hold informational picketing on Friday, September 9 from 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Hospital’s Mountain View campus.
The Hospital has been bargaining in good faith with PRN since February 2016 when the contract expired. Over the past seven months, both parties have agreed to 31 tentative agreements and five extensions of the Memorandum of Understanding. El Camino Hospital and PRN have also reaffirmed their commitment to serve our community through excellent professional nursing practice, optimal patient care delivery and supporting a culture of safety and transparency.
“El Camino Hospital values our nurses and commends them for the difficult job they do. Throughout this process, our clinicians have remained committed to providing services that are of the highest standard, said El Camino Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Cheryl Reinking, RN, MS, NEA-BC. “We also respect the union’s right to educate its members and remain optimistic that an agreement will be reached.”
Patient safety is El Camino Hospital’s highest priority. Providing patients with access to immediate, exceptional care is the organization’s commitment to the community. During informational picketing, doctors, nurses and employees including nurses are expected to report to work as scheduled.
El Camino Hospital will continue to diligently work to reach an agreement that is fair to all parties and bargain in good faith with PRN.
