Road Runners Seeks Volunteer Drivers to Meet High Community Demand

Mountain View, CA - April 18, 2013 - Road Runners, a transportation service funded by the El Camino Hospital District’s Community Benefit program, is currently seeking additional volunteer drivers to meet increased demand within the community. The Mountain View-based organization, which has served the district since 1985, provides door-to-door transportation with El Camino Hospital Road Runners cars for local senior citizens to medical, dental or other health related appointments, as well as personal errands such as trips to the beauty salon or grocery store. Volunteer drivers are the heart of this essential community service, helping to maintain the livelihood and independence of their older neighbors and truly making a difference in the community.

Volunteers must have a California driver's license and clean driving record, be patient and dependable, and available to donate at least a half-day of their time once a week. Scheduling is flexible and orientation and training are provided. Volunteers can also benefit from free access to hospital resources, including classes offered through the education department.
