Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is a treatment approach that uses drugs to interfere with cancer cells’ ability to reproduce. Our goal is to kill fast-growing cancer cells while minimizing damage to healthy cells. Our doctors may use chemotherapy alone or in combination with surgery or radiation therapy to treat your cancer.
We provide chemotherapy treatment in our new infusion center in the El Camino Health Cancer Center at Oak Pavilion. By expanding our chemotherapy treatment area with more chairs and beds, and providing an in-house lab and pharmacy, we make it easier for you to schedule and receive treatment.
Our staff will do everything possible to make you feel at home as you come for consultations, chemotherapy treatments or a variety of free, restorative activities in our healing space — including art therapy, support groups, cooking demonstrations and yoga classes.

The medical oncologists at El Camino Health Cancer Center have extensive experience in caring for patients, as well as conducting research. Our doctors are constantly in pursuit of new ways to treat cancer.
In addition to using well-established drugs for various cancers, we offer targeted therapy, an advanced level of care uncommon among community hospitals. We’ll examine your cancer cells in a lab and create a mixture of drugs that specifically target those cells.
We’ll not only consider every treatment available as we select what’s best for your cancer, but we’ll also manage your side effects aggressively. We provide anti-nausea medications, pain medication and intravenous hydration to counteract the effects of chemotherapy.
Our doctors, nurses, social workers and nutritionists are here to support you physically, mentally and emotionally as you face the challenges of cancer. And, as a patient at the Cancer Center, you’ll have direct and easy access to your doctor throughout your treatment.
