Birthing Suites
Our private, spacious birthing suites were designed with you and your partner’s comfort in mind. The suites offer plenty of natural light and are furnished with built-in TVs, a pull-out bed and a private bathroom with a shower. All the medical equipment for your delivery is already in your room — out of sight, but immediately accessible.
El Camino Health’s specially trained mother-baby nurses are available to answer your questions and work with you to support the birth plan you and your doctor or midwife designed. A board-certified OB/GYN and an anesthesiologist are on hand 24/7 and ready to assist during labor and delivery. Should the need arise, both hospitals have dedicated caesarean suites and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to care for newborns with special health needs.
You’ll stay in the birthing suite until after your baby arrives, giving you plenty of time to relax and bond with your newborn.
Mother-Baby Unit
Once you’ve welcomed your baby, you’ll move into a private room in the mother-baby unit. These rooms provide a quiet, peaceful setting for you and your newborn to get to know each other. We believe mothers are the best caregivers for their newborns, and keeping mothers and babies together supports breastfeeding and bonding. Your baby will even receive his or her first assessment and bath in the room with you. The same mother-baby nurse will provide care for both you and your baby.
