El Camino Health's cancer program is designed to smooth your transition to life after cancer treatment. We know that the emotional and physical toll may continue long after your treatment ends. You may be left with issues such as fatigue, sexual dysfunction or worries about returning to work or daily activities.

That’s why we’ve developed the Survivorship Program to support you as you continue recovering and healing. We’re here for you if you have questions or fears about what’s happening with your mind, body or emotions.

Survivorship Services

We offer a number of services to support you as you recover physically, emotionally and spiritually from your battle with cancer.

We have a coordinator and nurse practitioner who are your primary contacts for questions, guidance and links to resources.

Services include:

  • Social worker support. Our social workers assist you in accessing in-home, family and medical resources, and they offer emotional support to you and your family members.
  • Nutritional counseling. Our oncology dietitian offers you simple, practical steps to know what to eat before, during and after cancer treatment, including nutritional support for side effects of medications. Dietary recommendations are based on the latest research about nutrition and wellness.
  • Wellness activities. The Cancer Center on our Mountain View campus offers a variety of holistic services in our multipurpose healing space, including yoga classes, meditation, relaxation classes, non-denominational spiritual care and more.
  • Support groups and classes. We offer opportunities to share experiences with other people who have cancer and to attend informational sessions on various cancer topics.

The Survivorship Program is supported by donations to El Camino Health Foundation.

National Resources

El Camino Health’s cancer program endorses a number of national resources for cancer survivors. We encourage you to explore these for additional information and support:

  • Look Good Feel Better Program. El Camino Health’s cancer program has partnered with the American Cancer Society to assist women facing cancer-related appearance changes. Contact our community outreach coordinator at 650-988-7519 for additional information.
  • American Cancer Society Relay For Life. Join more than 3.5 million people dedicated to eliminating cancer in our lifetime. The organization sponsors events in 4,800 communities nationwide. Teams of families, friends and coworkers join together to celebrate the lives of those who’ve battled cancer, remember those lost, and fight against the disease.
  • National Cancer Survivors Day. This annual, worldwide celebration of life held in hundreds of communities throughout the U.S., Canada and other participating countries. Participants unite in a symbolic event to show the world the strength of life after a cancer diagnosis.
  • Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention. The CDC offers an online survivorship guide to help people live with, through and beyond cancer.
  • National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS). The NCCS is the oldest survivor-led cancer advocacy organization in the country.
  • LiveStrong. The foundation unites people to fight cancer, believing that unity is strength, knowledge is power, and attitude is everything.
