June Health Tips

June 2020 Health Tips

Summer is finally here! Keep an eye on your health and help keep the whole family well with these quick and easy tips.

1-Minute Tip: Before spending a day hiking or enjoying the great outdoors, take a look at your sunscreen supply and make sure it hasn’t expired. If you have a bottle or two from last year that have already been opened, you might want to error on the side of caution and replace them now. Add several bottles of full-spectrum SPF 30 or higher lotion to your shopping list now, and you should be good for the rest of the summer.

5-Minute Tip: Examine helmets, knee and elbow pads, and other protective equipment to make sure they still fit and are in good condition. Kids grow fast – and what worked last summer may not provide enough protection this summer.

15-Minute Tip: To encourage everybody in the house to wash their hands more frequently and keep germs and viruses from spreading, designate a different color or pattern of hand towel for every member of the family. Make sure everybody has a space to hang their towels to dry after each use, and remember to launder them in hot water every couple of days to keep them fresh and germ-free.

30-Minute Tip: Update your first aid kit. Go through your supplies and make sure that you have enough bandages (of varying sizes), gauze, antiseptic or alcohol wipes, instant cold packs, new or unopened antibiotic cream, calamine lotion, tweezers and any other items that might be necessary for your family, such as emergency medicines.
