Whether your schedule is packed to the brim or you have time to spare this month, make sure to find time for these four quick health tips:
1-Minute Tip: Wash your door handles. It sounds simple, but cleaning your door handles is one of the best ways to keep yourself healthy during cold and flu season. Make sure to take the time to clean at least your entry-way door handle, or whichever door knob gets the most use.
5-Minute Tip: Check or replace your carbon monoxide and smoke detector batteries. Since you already have to change your clocks for the ending of daylight saving time, use it as a reminder to check your alarm systems as well. These devices need working batteries to keep you safe!
15-Minute Tip: Buy some healthy snacks. There are plenty of sugary temptations around during the month of October. While there’s nothing wrong with indulging your sweet tooth every now and again, consider buying some healthy alternatives for you and your family. You can even try making your own healthy desserts with in-season produce like apples and pumpkins.
30-Minute Tip: Get your flu shot. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stated that getting your yearly flu vaccination is the single most important step you can take to protect yourself from getting the flu. A quick trip to your doctor or pharmacy can greatly reduce your risk of illness and save you from having to call in sick from work or school.
