The Sleep Disorders Program at El Camino Hospital Los Gatos has earned American Academy of Sleep Medicine (ASM) accreditation, the industry’s gold standard for patient care. “Our focus is on clinical care and connecting patients with a sleep physician who guides them through the process of evaluation, diagnosis and various treatments,” says Tony Masri, MD, medical director of the Sleep Disorders Program. “The center not only meets the ASM standards but exceeds them on many levels.”
Open since 2012, El Camino Hospital’s comprehensive, hospital-based Sleep Disorders Program treats all sleep disorders, including complicated cases. Typically, a patient is seen in consultation, receives education about treatment options and gets a customized treatment plan. For patients with obstructive sleep apnea, counseling on effective use of the CPAP device is available, as well as alternative treatments such as dental appliances and leading-edge surgical therapies.
This expertise in sleep disorders is also impacting other areas in the hospital. Thanks to a new initiative, El Camino Hospital monitors surgical patients for sleep apnea during pre-op, a measure that underscores our commitment to patient safety.
