With vaccines rolling out and a more normal life on the horizon, don’t forget to schedule important health screenings and annual check-ups. Since 2020, about 41 percent of adults have avoided medical care because of concerns related to COVID-19. But after a year of quarantine and stay-at-home mandates, receiving proper medical care should be one of your highest priorities.

Perhaps you’ve gained a few extra pounds or are concerned that the added stress of the pandemic has impacted your blood pressure levels. If you haven’t had a physical in more than a year, don’t put it off, do it now! Delaying healthcare has resulted in people increasing their risk levels or developing heart disease, diabetes, and other diseases without even knowing it.

Schedule an appointment with your doctor now to help prioritize your health and well-being. A virtual appointment may be appropriate for many situations, but an in-person visit is necessary for most tests and screenings. Keep in mind that hospitals and physician’s offices are following rigorous protocols to ensure your safety, and you will be asked to take additional precautions as well.

Talk to your doctor to determine which tests and screenings are right for you. Some important ones to consider include:

  • Mammogram
  • Colonoscopy
  • Other cancer screening based on your personal history and risk level
  • Blood pressure check
  • Blood glucose test
  • Cholesterol test
  • Routine vaccinations

Don’t put off these important tests and screenings, and don’t wait until the COVD-19 pandemic is completely under control. Now’s the time to stay healthy and well. Find a doctor near you to start.
